Transportation
Free public transportation is not available to our students at this time; therefore it is necessary for the parent or guardian to provide transportation for the child to and from school. Car pooling in encouraged.

Arrival / Departure Times
Arrival: Class instruction begins promptly at 8:00 a.m. School age students can be very disruptive to a class when arriving to school late. Therefore, it is necessary for each child to be in his/her classroom no later then 7:55 a.m. Students arriving after 8:10 will be considered tardy and must sign in at the office with a parent. PARENTS must sign students in at the office to get an admit slip. Students will not be allowed into class without an admit slip. If a student is tardy more than 3 times over a period of nine weeks, they will be subject to disciplinary action. The Board of Directors will address the persistent tardiness with the parents. It should also be noted that students must not be dropped off at school prior to 7:15 a.m.

Departure: Preschool students (age 3 through kindergarten) are ready for pick up at 2:30 p.m. Students in grades 1-6 are ready for dismissal at 2:45 p.m. No student should remain at school past 3:00 p.m. without a parent unless he/she is enrolled in the Extended Day Program. CCA appreciates your special attention to this matter. Our teachers have family responsibilities and appointments after school, and should not ve expected to stay at school 3:00 p.m. In the event that you are later than 3:00p.m. picking up your child, there will be a fee of $4 added to your account. A fee of $5 will be added after 3:30 p.m. These fees will accumulate per student for EACH occurrence of late pick up.

Absences
In case of an absence, CCA requires that the parent or guardian send a signed and dated excuse stating why the child was absent from school. This note must be sent the day the student returns to school. In the event that a student misses five consecutive school days, a doctor's excuse is required.
All absences will be recorded in student records. Parents of students who miss more than 20 days in a school year will be required to submit a written explanation to the Board of Directors. The Board will review each case individually in order to best meet the needs of each student.
Special family events that will prevent your child from attending school should be approved at least one week in advance by the Academy administrator. Your child's teacher will send home the make up work for your child prior to the absence. This work should be completed and returned to school when your child returns. Please be careful not to plan family vacations during testing periods. Make-up tests will not be give due to an unexcused absence.

Medication
Medicines that need to be administered by the CCA staff during school hours require that the parent complete a special parental permission form to be kept on file in the school office.
All medication must:
Be in the original container with pharmacy label attached
Have dated prescription label attached which includes how long and how often medication is to be given
Be accompanied by the special parental permission form.
If a child needs medication that does not meet the above requirements, a parent or guardian may come to school to administer said medication.

Sickness or Injury
In the event that a child becomes ill or is injured at school, the parent will be contacted immediately. If the office in unable to reach the parent or guardian, emergency contact persons listed in the child's file will be called. If the situation is an emergency, your child will receive the fastest and best medical attention available while every effort is made to contact the parents.

Cigarettes/Drugs/Alcohol
There is a strict no smoking policy on the Cornerstone Christian Academy campus. This is due to a concern for everyone's health as well as fire safety laws. No illicit drugs or alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises at any time.

Electronic Devices
Students are no permitted to bring electronic devices to school. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, tape players, and hand held games. If students would like to bring such items once for show and tell, they may make arrangements with their teacher in advance. Cell phones are not permitted in class, but students may use the office phone in the event they need to call home.

Extra curricular Activities
Information regarding extra Curricular Activities can be found here. These lessons usually involve the student being excused from class for a 20 to 30 minute lesson on a weekly basis. Sign up sheets are available at Parent Orientation for interested parties. Fees for this service are determined by the instructor.

Spanish
Spanish classes are required for elementary students and are included at no extra charge.

Class Parties
Children are allowed to bring a treat to school on their birthday. Please check with your child's teacher to be sure you bring enough for every student in the class. Students may distribute party invitations at school provided every child in the class receives one. Otherwise, the invitations should be mailed from your home in order to prevent any child from being left out.

Dress Code
Uniforms: Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are required to wear uniforms four days a week. One weekday will be designated as "free day". On that day students may choose their own dress provided it follows our standards of modesty.
The official school patch should be applied to uniform shirts on the upper left hand side. The school patch may also be applied to backpacks, sweaters, jackets, etc.
Although there will be special days throughout the year when students are not required to wear a uniform, the following schedule is the rule unless you are otherwise notified by your child's teacher. Teachers will document when a child attends school out of full uniform. After the third occurrence, a letter will be sent home from the office. If the parent continues to ignore the dress code the matter will be addressed by the Board of Directors.
A student enrolling after Aug. 9th will be given five school days to purchase uniforms and sew on patches.

Standards of Modesty:
CCA endeavors to uphold Biblical principles with respect to clothing and grooming standards. These standards are based on neatness, appropriateness, modesty and love. These standards are not a measure of spirituality but a way to reflect the fact that CCA is a Christian institution. Parents are welcome at CCA anytime; however, classroom schedules often make unannounced visits difficult for the teacher and distracting for the students. Please make advance arrangements with your child's teacher if you plan to visit the classroom.
All visitors will be directed to report to the office and state the purpose of their visit. Identification may be required at this time. The administration reserves the right to deny visitation.

Length of time spent on homework will vary based on the child's ability and grade level. Occasionally, long-term assignments will be made. Discipline
Effective classroom discipline is a necessary ingredient for a good learning environment. To maintain this healthy learning environment, we expect students to conduct themselves appropriately and abide by the Biblical principle in Matthew 7:12, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." When children do no behave in accordance with this principle, corrective measures will be used to help the student change his/her behavior. Corporal punishment (paddling) will be used as a last resort. Cornerstone Christian Academy expects fill cooperation from students and parents in this area.
Although the following is not an exhaustive list, it is representative of unacceptable behavior

Lying
Disprespect
Cursing
Cheating
Plagarism
Damaging Property
Forging Another's Name

Disciplinary procedures at Cornerstone help provide a safe learning environment and nurture self-discipline and a strong character.

Please do not purchase any supplies until you talk to your child's teacher. There may also be a need to replenish supplies about mid-year.Lost and Found
Please label all of your child's belongings. There is a lost and found box outside the office door for unclaimed items. Occasionally unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.Snack and Lunch

Milk and fruit drinks are also delivered to the school. These meals may be purchased for $.50 at lunch or snack.
Due to the growing enrollment at CCA, lunch and snack schedules are very tight. Students who bring their lunch will not be permitted to use the microwaves or the refrigerators. These are reserved for teacher use only. Please pack your child's lunch accordingly.
